Letter to Parishioners regarding Mass intentions January - June 2026

Many are likely already aware of the situation St. Maximilian Kolbe Parish faces in terms of available Mass intentions. The number of intentions requested in 2025 exceeded the number of Masses celebrated well before mid-year. We stopped accepting requests for 2026. We will be accepting requests for January – June 2026 Mass on Wednesday October 15th, 2025. A date for July-December will be announced in Spring.

There are about 300 Masses available for requested intentions. We have already received requests for 95 Mass intentions scheduled for 2026. In order to accommodate as many parishioners as possible and to assist those who have experienced recent losses, we will limit the number of intentions for specific dates requested by each household to 2 weekdays and 1 weekend Mass in a 6-month period.

What can you do to accommodate your desire to remember your beloved deceased family members and friends? The simplest solution is to combine your intentions if you have significant days like birthdays and anniversaries. Rather than pray for some of the deceased members of your family, pray for all of them! You may also request that the sanctuary/offertory candles burn in memory of your loved one. We would acknowledge that in the weekly bulletin, a suggested donation of $10 is appreciated.

We also want to assist those who experience recent losses. If you ask for a Mass card for someone experiencing a recent loss, our phone number will be included so that they may schedule the intention. If no specific request is made within 3 months the office will schedule these intentions.

We try to honor these requests in a single calendar year.

In addition, in 2026 we will begin to combine two intentions at one weekend Mass, alternating between our churches. We will continue our practice of noting the intentions in the bulletin and during our general intercessions.

Efforts will be made to preserve the requests of our Parish prayer groups. However, if someone wishes to schedule their special intention on Prayer Group day their request will be honored. We will notify Prayer Group.

Your understanding is sincerely appreciated.

Fr. Symon Peter Ntaiyia
